In 2004, conservationist completed the restoration of one of the finest examples of medieval doom paintings in Europe. The apocalyptic image, dating back to the 1430’s was originally blackened by years and years of tarnish and mismanagement. Although the restoration team had done a marvellous job in revealing this lost treasure, much of the image was still unclear to the naked eye.

I took an array of 50, hi-resolution images. After splicing them together, I painstakingly repainted the massive mural. Lost detail was reintroduced, based on both existing, flaking detail and other sources from the same era. Due to its high resolution and complexity, it took me 20 hours to restore the doom painting.
