How would you like a blurred frame round one or more picture?

By John Sweeney - 16th of January 2007

  1. Open your photo in Photoshop.
  2. Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a selection about 3 to 5 cm's from the edge of the picture. Remember: from top left hand corner to bottom right hand corner.
  3. Go to Select > Inverse or Hit Ctrl+Shift+I (this will inverse the selection) and then go to: Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and put the setting up to about 4 or 5.
  4. CTRL J to make a new blank layer.
  5. Go to Layer, (Or double click the blue area to the right of the word Layer 1 on the layers pallet) select stroke and a new pallet appears, click on the bottom left word 'Stroke' but not in the tick box, click to
the right of the word stroke, then change the default colour to black by selecting black. Alter the size to 1px.
  6. Next, choose Drop Shadow and again click to the right of the word and NOT the box to the left of the words, now play or jiggle about with the slider settings on the main palette until you are satisfied that you have
    achieved a good result.
  7. Flatten image and save. You've done.
