Coloured border using Crop Tool

By John Sweeney - 16th of January 2007

Creating a coloured border round a picture using the crop tool.

  1. Open a picture.
  2. Select the crop tool (C on your keyboard)
  3. Click in the left top corner of the picture and drag to bottom right corner. Then release. A bounding box appears round the image.
  4. Place mouse cursor on one of the corner boxes until it changes to a 2 directional arrow, then click and pull the border outside of the picture.
  5. Repeat the procedure with the opposing corner.

You should now have a rectangle round your picture at somewhere between ½ and one inch from the border.

  • Now hit the enter key. You now have a coloured border around your image, the colour of it will depend on what colours are showing on your toolbox. If you want to try it again first change the colours in the toolbox by clicking on one colour and replacing the colour.
  • Now save the image. (Save as)
