A Great way to Blur the background of a picture:

How would you like to Isolate an object by creating a softer background, and add a blur effect to your photos.

  1. Open Picture in Photoshop.
  2. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to make a selection around the object you want to isolate.
  3. Go to select and Inverse or Hit Ctrl+Shift+I (this will invert the selection). So, actually you have chosen everything except the items you want to save on the picture.
  4. Now, apply a Gaussian Blur (Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur), add as little or as much as you feel you need to. To help you, click the minus tab below the Gaussian blur pallet which is on screen, this will allow you to see all of your picture and what effects you are creating.
