TT's Free Meta Tag Generator

Optimizing a page for high listings for the major search engines can be a very complicated task. Although the use of meta tags to influence the indexing process is only a small part of search engine optimization (SEO), it is still important to guide the search engine indexing process.

It is true that the major search engines including Google, Yahoo and MSN have a tendency to ignore the Keywords meta tag; many of the other smaller search engines still make use of them. Keywords are also useful in helping you keep track of the particular words and phrases that you have designated for each page.

Use the following meta tag generator to help organise your meta data. Try and generate a different set of related and relevant tags for each and every page to optimise the chances of a high listing.

Important: This generator comes with no warranty. You use it at your own risk.

Keywords

Including 3 keywords or phrases that sum up your page's textual content. These words must be placed a good number of times throughout the body of text but not at an unnatural, unreadable level. You can include many keywords, but you will get better results from optimising a page for only 3 words or phrases. Do some research into what you think your potential visitors will type into search in order to find your services.

Example: 'clothing, cheap shirts, baseball caps'

TIP: Separate each word with a comma ','

Level of importance: Very High

Title Tag

Write a short page description including 3 of your top keywords and phrases (in order of importance).

TIP: Avoid using stop words such as 'and', 'as', 'the', etc. Avoid oversell, i.e. 'We are the greatest...'

 Characters remaining.

Level of importance: Medium

Description

This tag should contain a description of your page. This description may be used by some search engines in order to describe your page to potential visitors. Make it short and snappy. Include all of your keywords/phrases, but make sure that it reads well as this may prove to be first-contact to potential customers.

TIP: Use text from existing page. Shorten and alter it a little and include keywords. Avoid oversell, i.e. 'We are the greatest...'

 Characters remaining.
